Creating Art
Intarsia is like creating a wooden puzzle. Every piece hand cut from different wood species based on their color and grain direction. I use a scroll saw to carefully cut every piece to fit within the design.
The next step is shaping these pieces. Individual pieces are rounded, tapered, and the surfaces carved providing the details to bring the artwork to life.
Now the puzzle can be assembled to make sure everything fits together nicely, constantly sanding and shaping each piece until it is perfect.
To bring even more depth to the artwork some sections are made taller and some shorter giving it a 3D effect.
Finally with a background chosen the pieces are glued in place and finish is applied to enhance the beautiful colors and grain textures!
Every piece made is unique and hand crafted with care.
